Gary hung the chandelier for me as a surprise. Why heavens no, I’ve never raised my head enough to see what it’s hanging from. Let’s just enjoy our limes under glass.

Happy Birthday Smellanie

Here's to another decade of friendship and fun. Love ya!

Grandma's 90th Birthday

My grandma Bahler had her 90th birthday celebration this weekend, and was joined by friends, family, and community members. Darryl and I were sadly not able to attend because we feared we would spread our illness to those gathered.

My grandma is a tremendous lady. She is bright, witty, active, and an all around wonderful person. What an inspiration it is to me that someone in their 90s not only looks AMAZING but is such a delight to be around no matter the circumstance. I love you Grandma!

That's Strep-Tastic.

So, It's day 8 of my foray with strep throat. I feel somewhat like a puddle of goo that has leaked onto the floor and has no will to exist. I have not been this ill for a long, long time and have pity on those people who routinely get this awful affliction.

On the bright side, I've started antibiotics and am on the upswing and am back at work after a four-day absence. Who knows if I'm contagious still. hmmmm.

Travel agency's booking error landed couple in Nova Scotia instead of Australia...

Serena Tavoloni, 25, and Valerio Torresi, 26, arrived in Sydney, N.S., instead of Sydney, Australia. (CBC)
A couple from Italy got a taste of Cape Breton hospitality Wednesday when they unexpectedly arrived in Sydney, N.S., instead of Sydney, Australia.
Valerio Torresi, 26, and Serena Tavoloni, 25, had never travelled outside Europe until Tuesday night when they found themselves in Nova Scotia instead of Australia where they had planned to fly.
At first, they assumed they were only changing planes, and when they found out it was actually the end of their flight, they didn't believe what had happened.
"The first reaction was fear," Torresi said. "And the second reaction is, 'No, it's a joke.' But it's true."
The couple's travel agency in Italy is correcting the booking error, and the couple hopes to be on their way to Australia soon.
In the meantime, they are being treated to a warm welcome in the city of about 23,000 on Cape Breton island. A local restaurant is providing a lobster dinner, and the couple will stay at the Day's Inn for free.
Torresi and Tavoloni said everyone they have met in Sydney has been kind, friendly and helpful.
This isn't the first time the two Sydneys have been mistaken.
Two years ago, a woman from Argentina spent an unintentional week in Cape Breton, and in 2002, a British couple made the same mistake and spent several days on the islandRead more: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/nova-scotia/story/2010/07/07/ns-wrong-sydney.html#ixzz0t88CiWUJ

Kananaskis 2010

Darryl, Muffin, and I took advantage of our four-day Canada Day Long weekend and headed to Kananaskis.

Although it wasn't the nicest weather, we took advantage of our time off. We were in Canmore for a few hours on Canada day and enjoyed seeing all the festivities, but for the most part we just hiked and fished the weekend away.

I haven't spent much time out that direction since I was a kid, and I forgot how beautiful an area it is. We had our choice of places to fish and walk with very few other people out most of the time. Elkwood campground was awesome, and except for the child next door who seemed to always find something to be screaming about, it was very quiet and well-maintained. I also had the pleasure of running into my friends Tammy and Matt and getting to play a round of Sociables with them on Saturday night.

Glad to be in God's great creation and have the privilege of spending time with loved ones. We really are blessed to live in a country where a place like this is just down the road.
